The Bendigo Regional Alliance Inc. have, or are currently providing input into the following:

  • Bendigo and the region has been recognised by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, as a City of gastronomy joining 245 other creative cities around the world. The designation recognises our region’s diverse food culture and our communities commitment to local, sustainable, delicious and sustainable produce (Link)
  • City of Greater Bendigo have lead the development of Greater Bendigo’s first ever Food System Strategy to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community. The Strategy looks at four key areas, including supporting food security, supporting our local food economy, supporting food systems knowledge, skills and culture and reducing food waste from landfill (Link)
  • Grow, Cook, Share aims to improve the quantity, quality and variety of fresh produce available to Central Victorians and provide people with the confidence and skills to be able to prepare healthy meals at home.The project has three main initiatives: 1) Establish cooking clubs that teach and mentor participants to cook simple healthy meals using seasonal produce. 2) Encourage community members to grow and donate fresh fruit and vegetables to Bendigo Foodshare. 3) Redevelop the Salvation Army Gravel Hill Garden to increase its capacity to grow fresh produce for food relief (Link).
